CHELSEA BAG FIRST CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WIN

West London giants Chelsea have bagged their first Champions League victory at the third time of asking following their emphatic win over Italian Serie A side AC Milan in Group E. The Rossoneri were on the end of a big defeat at the hands of Chelsea when the two teams met in London this week. Chelsea were without a win in their first two Champions League games before the 3-0 victory over AC Milan.

Chelsea came into the home game with AC Milan on the back of just a solitary point from two matches. In their first game in Group E, Chelsea were handed a 1-0 defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian city of Zagreb. Croatian star Miroslav Orsic scored the only goal of the match in the first half to give Dinamo Zagreb an impressive victory over their Premier League opponents. It was the last game for German tactician Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea manager before he was sacked and replaced by Graham Potter.

The Blues picked up their first Champions League point of the season when Red Bull Salzburg battled to a point at Stamford Bridge via a 1-1 draw. Englishman Raheem Sterling scored the first goal of the game to give Chelsea the lead in the first half. His goal was the difference between the two teams at the half-time break. Sterling was on the way to being the recipient of the winning goal before Swiss star Noah Okafor scored for Red Bull Salzburg to secure a point from the game.

Chelsea knew only a win at home to AC Milan will boost their quest to qualify for the Champions League round of 16 from Group E and they were able to get the win thanks to the goals from new signings Wesley Fofana and Pierre-EmerickAubameyang as well as Reece James.
