CHELSEA HANDED MAJOR SUMMER TRANSFER SETBACK

Premier League club Chelsea have been dealt a huge transfer blow after Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku recently revealed that he wants to stay at the club and does not want to leave amid reports that the Blues are interested in signing the striker this summer. It was reported some weeks ago that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a major striker for the club and is looking to choose between Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland and Lukaku, but it looks as though they will have to forget about signing the Inter Milan star.

The Blues may now have to Chanel their focus and resources to Haaland if they still want to sign a striker this summer as it appears Lukaku is currently unavailable. They could also lose out on signing Haaland this summer after Dortmund’s director revealed that they will not be letting go of the Norwegian striker this summer.

Lukaku revealed in an interview that he has spoken with the new Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi and has concluded that he will be staying put at the Nerazzurri for the coming season. Lukaku was voted the best overall player in the Serie A last season for the key role he played in gelling Inter secure the league title after becoming the club’s top goalscorer.

Chelsea are expected to let go of a number of strikers this summer, with Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud, and Michy Batshuayi all linked with exits from Stamford Bridge in the summer. They will now want to sign ideal replacements but may now have to look elsewhere in their bid to source for their forward replacements in the coming weeks.

Giroud is said to be close to joining Inter Milan’s fierce rivals, AC Milan, and could complete the transfer in the coming days.
